Central Arizona Riding Academy is a family-friendly dressage training and boarding facility located in San Tan Valley, Arizona. Owned by Ulrich Schmitz and Dorie Vlatten-Schmitz, CARA provides training for the horse and rider from beginner through Grand Prix. Whether you are new to dressage or an FEI rider, our instructors are qualified to help you reach your riding goals. All riders will enjoy the many amenities our 10-acre facility has to offer, including two standard-sized dressage arenas, one covered for your comfort, and daily pasture turnout. Show opportunities exist throughout Central and Southern Arizona for competitive riders. CARA hosts multiple schooling shows and clinics throughout the year, and an annual summer camp for young riders.
CARA POLICY on COVID-19 As you are no doubt aware, COVID-19 (a/k/a Coronavirus) has been officially declared by the World Health Organization a global pandemic and, in addition, here in the U.S. the government has declared a national emergency. Given the magnitude of this unprecedented situation, we at CARA have adopted a policy to prevent the spread of this potentially deadly virus. Effective immediately, anyone exhibiting signs of a respiratory illness (whether it’s COVID19 or not) shall not visit CARA. Respiratory illness includes any of the following: cough, runny nose (non allergy), fever, or shortness of breath. Should you exhibit any of these symptoms, we expect you do the right thing and stay home until resolution of symptoms (or the zombie apocalypse, which ever comes first). In the case of a fever, it must be resolved without medication for 24 hours. If you are returning from what the CDC calls a Level 2 or Level 3 country, you are expected to observe a 14-day quarantine. Follow this link for additional information: https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/notices/ We recognize that this policy may not be convenient, but we have concluded that it is absolutely necessary. Please adopt good hygiene etiquette by washing your hands, not touching your face, and avoiding physical contact with others. Appropriate respiratory etiquette is important, too; i.e., sneeze or cough into your elbow or tissue, not your hand. If you find you are ill, please contact Dorie. She will work with you to develop a plan to address your horse’s care during your illness. We’re counting on you to both understand this policy and to work together to keep us all safe and healthy. Thank you for your cooperation. — DORIE & ULI SCHMITZ
